Dev ID Quandry

1 min read
I am looking for a visual artist to create an ID that reflects my love for poetry... and my love for phoenixes. This is certainly not my area of expertise, so I need a little help. I've been here way to long to not have a proper ID!

I am currently willing to offer a 3-month subscription or it's equivalent in dA dollars. If you have any ideas or suggestions, comment or note me. I'm excited to work something out!

Artist Survey

1.
How many years have you been an artist?
Well, I've been a musician since elementary school, and a poet since middle school sometime.

2.
What triggers ideas for new projects?
Depends on the project. Usually, some random thought.

3.
When do ideas come to you? How often?
The question should be, when do GOOD ideas come to you. I get crappy ideas all day every day, but the good ones have to be sifted out.

4.
How do you earn a living?
I'm a waitress at a lounge downtown. When I graduate, I'll be a Speech-Language Pathologist. I never plan to make a living through art, but being an SLP will change lives and I don't regret that decision in the slightest.

5.
What percentage of your income comes from selling your art?
Ha, 0%

6.
What percentage of the day do you think about or work on your art?
Hmm. Well, I intentionally let poems stew in my head for a few days before I allow myself to put anything to paper. At my most active, I write a few a week.

7.
When you're creating, is it difficult for you to switch over to the left side of your brain to handle everyday tasks?
Absolutely. Well, I guess it depends on the task. When I have the urge to write, I can do it pretty much anywhere and I rarely put it off. The great thing about poetry is I use quite a lot of my left brain in the process. I'm very analytical while writing.

8.
How important is it for you to create art?
My creativity is always nipping at my heels. If I'm not writing, playing the violin, or singing, I'm painting the kitchen or researching how to do something new. Really though, poetry has become a bigger part of my life than I could ever have imagined when I started. I don't think I'll ever stop.

9.
Would you feel fulfilled if you didn't have art in your life?
I don't know. I need to be creative, and I think if I could find another outlet I could still feel accomplished.

10.
Do you get that feeling from anything else?
My God, and my husband.

11.
How long can you go without creating before it starts to affect you physically or mentally?
Why would I ever try that!? If I can't fulfill my creative vibe (or if I feel like my current poems are crap) I do get the tiniest bit depressed. Then, I change the pace and do something new or learn a new skill. I've gone only less than a week before changing pace.

12.
Do you feel that choosing the artist's life has been a sacrifice? Have you given up certain luxuries?
Well, this question is geared toward full time artists, but I guess I have given something up: a sense of security. I'm a very private person about what I am feeling. Poetry forces me to share those things and explore my own twisted perspective on this very twisted world.

13.
Do you feel like you have a choice in the matter?
Yep. I could just choose not to create. I could choose to die.

14.
If you had to choose another profession to pursue, rather than artist, what would it be?
Well... If I had to choose another profession which is not related to writing/language, I... uh, well... I'd be screwed. In choosing to be an SLP, I went through journalist, interpreter, and linguist. I could be a musician, but that's also related to art. I guess I'd probably just have to be a housewife. :D

Thanks to all involved in the favorites project and those who have taken the time to read In Case of Emergency. I'm grateful.

I've gained quite a few new watchers, so welcome. Stay a while; we'll make something happen.

Hey There

1 min read
Just signed up for classes next semester. Can't believe I graduate next year!
Anyway, there's been quite a bit of new traffic around here. Between my recent feature on the Favorites Project and my participation in the Villainous Villainelle contest, I've been seeing new faces right and left. Nice to meet you visitors! Thanks for stopping by.

Now don't forget to comment before you :+fav:. Seriously, it's driving me insane.I'm not even joking. :shakefist: :)
